Press Release 4/15/2019 – Homeless Coalition Forming Now
In response to the growing homeless population in our community, the City of Alamosa is in the process of forming a Homeless Coalition City Advisory Board.
City Manager Heather Brooks said “After approximately one year of deliberate outreach that included general public meetings, neighborhood meetings, and meetings with La Puente, the City of Alamosa has decided that it is important to create a larger, official community group to discuss the many aspects of homelessness. Discussions could include causes, effects, solutions, gaps, impacts, policies, etc. This is not a Coalition that will push for organizations to provide resources and this is not a group that will be focused on La Puente. This is a community group for a community issue of which, La Puente is one of many stakeholders.”
To be considered for service on the Homeless Coalition, please fill out an application available now at www.cityofalamosa.org. Applications are due to the City Clerk by Friday, May 10. Visit the link here: https://cityofalamosa.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Homeless-Application-2019.pdf
