Press Release 3/28/2019 – Sanitary Sewer Replacement Alleyway Closures

Beginning April 1, Gardner Excavating will replace the sanitary sewer system in the alleyways between First and Second Street, from State Avenue to San Juan Avenue. Construction is estimated to take 3-4 weeks.

Part of the process requires pumping excess ground water so new pipe can be bedded in dry and stable material. Pumps could potentially run 24/7 until the end of the project, depending on ground water levels. We ask for your patience with noise levels as crews work as quickly and efficiently as possible to complete the replacement.

Alleyways will be closed and temporary closures of First and Second Streets will occur as needed to safely complete the project. We request that residents do not park, walk, or drive in the construction area.  This will help ensure your safety, as well as the safety of crews working in the area.

Please contact Harry Reynolds at the Public Works Department with questions or concerns. 719-589-6631
