Solid Waste and Recycling
Solid Waste and Recycling is handled by the Sanitation Division of Public Works. Services include: residential and commercial waste collection, residential green waste collection, and recycling.
Garbage collection fees can be found here. Extra pickups can be requested for an additional fee.
Large Item Pickup
A Free Large Item Clean Up takes place once during the Spring and Fall. To schedule a large item pick up at any other time, contact the Public Works Department for more information (719) 589-6631. Additional fees may apply.
Yard (Green) Waste
Yard waste can be disposed of at the Rickey Recycling Center at 1130 Old Airport Road. Residents may also choose to participate in yard-waste pickup using the green toter. Yard waste pick-up is offered weekly from the first Monday in April to the last Monday in November.
Rickey Recycling Center
The Rickey Recycling Center, located at, currently accepts Newspaper, Magazines, White Office Paper, Shredded Paper, Cardboard, #1 PETE Clear Plastic, #2 HDPE Colored Plastic, #2 HDPE Natural Plastic, Steel Cans, Aluminum Cans, and Glass. For a full list of what can and cannot be recycled, refer to this flyer.
Summer Hours
M-F: 8 AM – 6 PM
Saturday: 9 AM – 6 PM
Sunday: 12PM – 6 PM
Winter Hours
M-F: 8 AM – 5 PM
Saturday: 9 AM – 4 PM
Sunday: CLOSED
Winter hours begin with each time change.
